SOME of the big names along Orchard Road can now be found in Jurong, with Kinokuniya, H&M and Astalift setting up shop in the newly opened Jem shopping mall at Jurong Gateway Road, next to Jurong East MRT Station.
Marking its first foray into the suburbs is Fujifilm's third Astalift skincare and beauty flagship store, which is also the first store to have a skincare room where groups can enjoy workshops and demonstrations.
Jem is also home to the first suburban outlets of international brands including H&M, Books Kinokuniya and Victoria's Secret.
Separately, Courts is opening its 14th store, with its 19,900-square-foot full-concept store featuring Digital Kiosks, Sofa Maker, Cool Zone and Sleep Clinic.
The store will also see the launch of the sixth Courts Connect in Singapore, the Republic's first in-store mobile retail concept offering mobile, broadband and TV services from the three Singapore telcos.
The third-largest suburban mall in Singapore, Jem houses 241 stores over 818,000 sq ft of retail space across six levels. All 241 shops were leased ahead of the mall's opening.
United Overseas Bank (UOB), which has a new universal branch and wealth banking centre at Jem, said its new branch - which is a combined 6,266 sq ft - will provide customers with more space to do their banking.
UOB said the wealth banking centre, its fourth such facility, is set to cater to an estimated 30 per cent of Singapore's rising rich who live in the west of the country.
UOB has installed some of its latest technology in the branch, including paperless electronic account opening and a seated queue system. Complementing the branch are 14 self-service machines in the vicinity, as well as mobile and Internet banking services.
The office tower, which is above the retail podium, has been completely leased.
